The head coach of the Under-17 national selection of Cameroon has expressed his satisfaction about his side’s preparations for the upcoming UNIFFAC tournament planned for this February at an undisclosed venue.
The coach made the remarks after his side’s three-nil win against TAD Sport Academy on Monday at the CAF Excellence center in Mbankomo-Cameroon.
Goals from forwards Samuel Nongoh, Taling Fouodjoum and Jemea Likanjo Soppo helped the side returned to winning ways wiping memories of the frustrating goalless draw against Kadji Sports Academy last week.
Responding to questions about the team’s readiness for upcoming assignments, coach Anicet Mbarga qualified the efforts so far as satisfactory though cautioning.
“We are working to put together a good team knowing that the previous generation has graduated into other categories. We are satisfied with the results given that we played a goalless draw in our last game but today we scored thrice so we are satisfied”.
Though Cameroon looks raring to go with 17 goals scored without conceding in five preparations games played in the two camps so far, the team’s staff is preparing without a clear knowledge of the kick off date and even the venue of the tournament.
Reacting to questions about this, the lead trainer simply said he is putting a team together while waiting for the date and venue of the tournament.
The 2021 UNIFFAC tournament is the regional qualifiers for the AFCON and Cameroon will go into the tournament as defending champions.
