Cameroon and Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper Andre Onana Onana has been crowned Dutch champion for the third time in his career following his side’s 5-0 triumph over Heereveen this wednesday in Match-Day 33 of the Dutch championship.
The 25-year-old contributed to Ajax’s third Eredivisie title in his time at the club following the 5-0 rout at the Johan Cruyff Arena.
Erik Ten Hag and his boys came into the game virtually sure of winning the title having opened a reasonable gab ahead of PSV.
First-half goals from Nicolas Tagliafico, Steven Berghuis and Sebastien Haller put Ajax 3-0 up at halftime before teenage forward Brian Brobbey and midfielder Edson Alvarez wrapped up the commanding win.
In total, Ajax has won 26 games, lost three and played draw in four, scoring 96 goals, and conceding 17. Erik Ten Hag’s men finished have accumulated 82 points, four more than their rivals, PSV with a trip to Vitesse in the offing in the final round of matches.
Having returned from a ban only in November, Onana has featured in six of Ajax’s 33 games this season, keeping two clean sheets.
Having joined Ajax in 2014, this Onana’s third Eredivise title after those of 2019 and 2021.
It is the sixth trophy for former Barcelona keeper who has also won two Dutch cup and a super cup during his time at the club.
Onana will depart Ajax for a new challenge in the summer but before that he celebrates another success in Amsterdam.
