23-year-old Cameroon goalkeeper Andre Onana is on the wishlist of many European elite clubs.

The Ajax goalkeeper is wanted by both Real Madrid and his former club, FC Barcelona in Spain. However, reports notably from the Daily Mail, suggests that he favours a move to the English Premier League, where Chelsea and Tottenham lead the race for his signature.

Chelsea are in search for another goalkeeper, to give competition to the erratic Kepa Arrizabalaga and they have set their sights on the Ajax goalkeeper who is in tremendous form in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Onana who is a product of Barcelona’s prestigious La Masia, joint Ajax in 2015 from FC Barcelona. He has kept 72 clean sheets in 171 appearances for the reigning Dutch Champions.

The Cameroon international goalkeeper was nominated for a number of international awards last season and finished 7th in the Yashin Trophy, as one of the world’s best goalkeepers. This was partly down to his heroic performances for the four times European Champions in their run to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

Onana is still tied to Ajax until June 2022 and is valued at £50 million, which is lesser than the world record fee for a goalkeeper, £71.6 million which Chelsea paid to secure Kepa’s services two seasons ago from Athletic Bilbao.
