40 trainees of the Cameroon National football Academy (ANAFOOT) are currently having the time of their life in the third day of a week training camp at the newly-constructed modern Sports complex at Bagofit in the East Region of Cameroon.
70 trainees under the age of 17 (45 boys and 25 girls) assembled from the ten regional pools of the institution are being drilled by the different regional trainers daily.
In a rare media session this Monday, Mbianzdi Suzie (member of the Under-17 girls selection of Cameroon and ANAFOOT center) couldn’t hide her emotions.

“We have missed this, getting together again in a camp is very important. It’s extra special because we are meeting for the first time in a long time. We are enjoying it and learning faster especially in this new environment” Suzie told reporters.
The Under-14 and Under-17 players under the guidance of a number of coaches present practice twice daily.
Speaking about the situation of the kids, General manager Enow Ngachu re-emphasized on the importance of combining football and education amongst others.
“We must emphasize our policy is about football and education. We have set 12.5 average as minimum expected score for students of our institution. This term, we are satisfied as over 80% of the students satisfied this condition,” GM Enow revealed.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t as planned for the students and ANAFOOT officials as the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic completely crippled football activities.
“The students are quite excited to be back. However, we are taking it progressively as they have been out of activity for a while due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The trainers are working everything to ensure the kids improve tactically and physically,” the institution’s General manager the great Enow Ngachu revealed.
The kids are expected to be at till December 30th after which they will return to their bases to continue their development in football and in their studies.
