Canon Yaoundé found a fan in their 2019-2020 season best scorer Alphonse Kevin Assiga.

The former Aksaraspor forward has described Canon as the club of his heart stating he learned a lot in his time in the ranks of the 10 times Cameroon champions.

The club Canon Yaounde may be forced to find a replacement for 22-year-old Alphonse Kevin Assiga before the resumption of the next football season as suitors will certainly crowd the out of contract forward when the window opens.

Despite chances of an exit if the right opportunity comes, the hat trick hero in Canon’s 3-1 win over Avion Academy in Limbe in the just-ended season, still believes memories of last season as a SOAS wouldn’t fade soon.

“I am very satisfied with my season. The performance is a reward of the efforts of the team and our fitness coach during the pre-season. Yes it was my first season in the Cameroon Elite One championship, it wasn’t very easy especially in the terms of physicality. The championship has improved my game, it was a great experience” Assiga asserted.

The former Orduspor striker sparkled in his debut campaign in the Cameroon Elite One championship, scoring nine goals and providing four assists in 17 games for Canon Yaounde.

Assiga ended the season as the lead scorer for Canon Yaounde and was just two goals off the championship’s lead scorer Leon Boyomo of PWD with 11 goals in 21 games.

The forward says he wants a new challenge away from the Kpakum.

“I believe I gave my all for this great club, it wasn’t an easy season. We worked together as a team and attained the objective. About my future, it is difficult to comment about my future because of the global pandemic situation we are uncertain. If a reasonable offer comes, my entourage will talk with the president and the management of the club for the interest of all parties, but if there is non I am motivated to stay, Canon Yaoundé remains special to me.” Assiga declared.

Canon Assiga endured a topsy-turvy season, in and around the relegation zone for most part of the season but ended the campaign in the 12th spot.

Assiga and Samuel Belemb were major components in all good things Canon did in the just-ended season.
The forwards scored 17 goals between them.

It is certain that Assiga will be a subject of interest from clubs at home and abroad before the new season.
