Canon Yaounde forward, Alphonse Kevin Assiga sealed Canon’s two nil win over PWD of Bamenda this Wednesday in Bamenda.
The forward was surprisingly left on the bench exactly a week after he scored a hat trick against Avion Academy but he kept his motivation and came on to send PWD fans away before full time.
The forward missed five of Canon’s games in the first half of the season while away on tryouts in Morocco.
Speaking post match, the striker talked about the travel difficulties but said the victory is a reward of hard work.
“Well we are a team, the coach decided that I should start on the bench. We are a team, I am pleased we won that is more important. The set piece goal is the output of hardwork in training”:Assiga stated.
The forward climbed off the bench in the second segment with Canon leading by one goal to nil.
The former Orduspor and Aksaraspor scored 11 minutes after his introduction. Assiga took a set piece from 30 meters out and left goalkeeper Zame Rodrique of PWD motionless.
It is the 22-year-old striker’s first fourth goal in the last three games in Canon Colours.
Assiga totals 8 goals in 15 games this season. He is tied on the second spot in the scorers chart with Nlend Samuel.
He is two goals away from Leon Boyomo who leads the scorers chart with 10 goals.
