The 2018-2019 Angolan top flight runners-up will welcome reigning Ugandan Champions Kampala Capital City Authority FC on Saturday September 14, 2019 at the Estadio 11 de Novembro in Luanda.
The 15 time Angolan Champions and 11 time Angolan cup winners are an old timer in the competition. They first took part in Africa’s top club football competition in 1983 and are currently in their 17th campaign.
Their best performance was in 2001 when they reached the semi-finals. The last time they played in the competition was in 2010.
They will be facing a tricky opponent in reigning Ugandan Champions Kampala Capital City Authority FC.
The Kasasiro Boys have good memories of their last time out against an Angolan opponent. In 2017, they eliminated CD Primeiro de Agosto.
KCCA qualified for the final preliminary round with a 4-3 aggregate over Namibia’s African Stars while Petro Launda eliminated Lesotho’s Matlama FC 3-0 on aggregate.
KCCA’s new signings Revita John, Erisa Sekisambu, and Keziron Kizito or John Egbuonu Odumegwu will have to wait until the team makes the group stages for them to play any part for them in the competition, but fellow new signing Simon Serunkuma makes his first trip in the competition with his new employers.
They will also miss the services of reliable defensive midfielder Nicholas Kasozi.
The 13 times Ugandan champions and 10 times domestic cup winners are in their 12th participation in the tournament. Their first participation was in 1977 and last season they reached the group stage of the competition. Though they are yet to win a continental trophy they are experienced campaigners in the different CAF club competitions.
This tie will be decided on how both teams approach their home games.
