According to the federation of University sports FENASU, the left wing attacker of the University of Bamenda is the best player of the 22nd edition of the University games.

Abanke Eric played in all of UBa’s three group stage matches and the other three at the knockout stage. In the midst of these, Eric’s performance was wonderful.

Though he has just one goal to his name, his presence was mightily felt. He created chances on day one that led to UBa’s 2#0 victory against the University of Ngoundere.

In their semi final match against host side Dschang, he was nake-named “Mr Free kick” after opening score from a direct free kick.

In the likes of Lionel Messi and Mohammed Salah, he dribbled passed at least two to three defenders at once in all the matches. This instilled a sense of love in the 2 shirted player from the entire spectators.

After their victory against IUG at the final, Abanke Eric told “We have worked hard for this. We have been hoping to get a gold medal, in Maroua we didn’t make it and this year God has given us. We thank Him. Everything went well, we took the instructions from our coach and we had the results.”

Since Abanke started making history, he had been the point of attraction as many found it a pleasure to take snap shots with him.
