The University of Bamenda team has gotten their first gold medal after the fourth day of play. The medal came in from Judo competition and Tamba Noela Nick, a bilingual letters student of ENS Bambili is the medalist. She sponsored the smile on UBa’s face on Tuesday 7th as she beat her counterpart of Dschang University hands down. In a post match chat with her, she felt satisfied but regret that her performance this year is not as good as last year’s. “It is not completely shocking to me that I won. Last year, I had a gold medal too from the same category and a silver in wrestling. However, this year I could not do wrestling because it was played at the same time with judo. I face many challenges this year as compared to the maroua turn out. I was more prepared last year than this year. Though I had the same results as last year, I almost miss it because of inadequate preparation emanating from the current situation in Bamenda which forced us to stay at home and thus, missed many training days.” Tamba Noela told kick442.com
UBa is currently ranked in the 9th position with a total of 8 medals, 1 gold, 2 silvers and 5 bronze.
