Algerian referee Mustapha Ghorbal (36) will be the only African referee to officiate at the 2021 FIFA Club World competition which kick-off next month in UAE.
The FIFA Referees Committee has selected Algerian referee Mustapha Ghorbal to officiate at the Club World Cup UAE 2021.
Ghorbal refereed the opening match of CAN 2021 between Cameroon and Burkina and He was called to rescue to lead the Mauritania-Gambia match replacing the designated referee who tested positive for COVID, Hansel Camille Seychellois.
There is a possibility he and his compatriot ARs could be in the Final too if it’s an Europe versus South American Final. It based on performance as well as country affiliation.
The FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2021 will take place from February 3 to 12, 2022.
