Swiss topflight side FC Sion have parted company with nine of their players amongst which is Cameroonian duo of Alexandre Song and Christian Zock.
Foot Mercato is reporting that the club decided to terminate the players contract because they refused to accept a technical leave offered them.
The Swiss topflight leagues have been off since late February following the outbreak of the CoronaVirus.
We understand the players turned down the leave option because it could have affected their financial benefits with the club.
25-year-old Christian Zock Abep has featured in 12 of his club’s 26 league games this campaign while veteran Dimitri Alexandre Song Bilong, 32,has been involved in 11 league games.
Former Fulham star Pajtim Kasami is in the list of eight sacked players amongst which is Alex Song, Ermir Lenjani, Xavier Kouassi, Seydou Doumbia, Mickaël Facchinetti, Christian Zock, Birama Ndoye, Johan Djourou.
The club is currently ranked 8th in the championship and lastly played a competitive game on the 28th of February 2020.
The Swiss Association of Football Players (SAFP) reacted on the dismissal: “We expect that these improper dismissals will be revoked immediately.”
This decision may just add to the list of possible players/clubs disputes that will be created because of the forced break imposed on world football by the outbreak of the Convid-19.
