March 7, 2021, ahead of their trip to Morocco for the Under-17 AFCON tournament, the team’s fitness coach Alain Roger Nseme has just after training cut the hairs of all 25 players in the squad in an unusual exercise which demonstrates the beyond football relationship which exist between the players and the team’s technical staff.
Nseme, a retired barber though in his 40s, had an over 16-year career as a barber in the West Region of Cameroon before fully moving into the public service as a sports tutor and fitness coach at multiple sports institutions.
The gesture from the former Aigle Royal and current Under-17 Lions fitness coach left many of the players hyper satisfied with their kempt looks hours before many if not all of them go abroad to represent the nation for the first time.
The defending champions will arrive Morocco with one of the youngest team in the history of the tournament looking neat as well.
Famous football academies across the country like the Brasserie Football Academy and the national football Academy contributed eleven of the players traveling to Casablanca-Morocco in the wee hours of Monday, March 8.
Cameroon enter their 8th AFCON tournament as defending champions and are in group C alongside Mali, Senegal and South Africa.
The Lions open their tournament on March 15th against Senegal before confronting South Africa three days later and climax group stage activities against Mali on March 21 all in Casablanca.
