AS Fortuna of Mfou forward Martin Loïc Ako Assomo has been named man of the match in Cameroon’s one-nil win against Zimbabwe in the opening fixture of the 2020 African Nations Championship.
The 20-year-old sparkled during the game at the Amadou Ahidjo Stadium piercing the Zimbabwean defensive formation on a handful of occasions with his fleet-footed ability and his runs in the final third.
The forward was involved in the build up to Cameroon’s goal scored by Banga Solomon Bienvenue Bidjeme in the 71st minute.
The former Under-17, Under 20 and Under 23 Lions of Cameroon forward lasted the duration of the the encounter and in the end the CAF technical team earmarked him as the most-performant player amongst the actors deployed by both sides on the day.
The former Eding Sport de la Lekie forward will certainly be a player to keep an eye on in the course of the ongoing African Nations Championship in Cameroon.
