Newcastle United are likely to be the most active club in Europe when the next transfer window opens this summer.
Life at the Tyneside promises to different when the club’s imminent take over is completed.
While negotiations for the takeover continues, behind the scenes club is already working on possible transfer targets one of which Andalusian-based Algerian defender Aïssa Mandi of Real Betis, kick442.com can report.
Earlier this week, Spanish La Liga Side Real Betis set €30 Million release tag for their 28-year-old defender after he turned down a contract extension.
Reports emerging from Tyneside this weekend have it that New Castle have prepared a bid to activate the player’s release clause and take the former Stade Reims center half to England.
Aïssa moved to the Estadio Benito Villamarín in 2016 from Reims on a five-year-deal which he has repeatedly refused to extend each time Betis has talked about a new deal this campaign.
Mandi has featured in 24 of his club’s 36 games this campaign.
The Châlons-en-Champagne native has established himself as one of the most reliable defenders in the La Liga.
He has made over 100 appearances for Real Betis in the last year four years.
This week Spanish media Desportivo reported Olympic Lyonnais and Athletico Madrid interest on signing the player but with New Castle’s oil-money in waiting this may turn out to be a one-horse race.
The tough-tackling defender who also operates as a right-back has been caped on 49 occasions for the Desert Foxes of Algeria.
He was a part of the country’s team that conquered the continent and claimed the AFCON title last summer in Egypt.
