Flying Eagles of Nigeria and Junior Eagles of Mali have been paired in Pot 2 of next FIFA U20 World Cup Draws slated to take place on Sunday, 24 February.
24 teams have qualified for the tournament and all teams now know their pots (not pot of soup this time) but pot for the draw based on past performances at the tournament.
Based on a ranking built on past sporting performance, the 24 qualified teams have been allocated to four pots of six teams as follows:
Pot 1: Poland, Portugal, Uruguay, France, USA, Mexico
Pot 2: Mali, Nigeria, New Zealand, Colombia, Korea Republic, Italy
Pot 3: Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Argentina, Ecuador, Ukraine, Honduras
Pot 4: Japan, South Africa, Panama, Norway, Qatar, Tahiti
Hosts Poland will be pre-assigned to position A1 and play all their group matches in Lodz.
It should be noted that Mali emerged champions of CAF U20 AFCON last Sunday when the triumphed on penalties against Senegal after full time scores stayed at 1-1 after extra time. Nigeria on the other hand finished 4th after losing their third place match on penalties to Amajitas of South Africa after full Time scores stands at 0-0.
