The group B match between former champions and powerhouses in African basketball; Senegal and Angola was obviously the pick of the bunch which saw Senegal triumph at the end.
The giants had a go at the other and the result at the end (66-51) told of the intensity and the close nature of the game.
The highly determined Senegal ended the first half of the game with 18 points lead – Senegal 37-19 Angola confirming it dominance in the half.
The second half saw a more determined Angola to get something out of the game in the third and final quarter, but the Les Lions kept it fine performance to win deservedly.
Senegal’s win means they have won all three matches played so far at the Afrobasket tournament.
Tunisia, in group A, defeated Madagascar overwhelmingly 85-59 in the first game of match day 3.
42-29 it was at halftime despite tremendous efforts from the Malagasy side.
Tunisia had taken the first quarter in a period that ended in a close range scoreline of 22-16.
However, a ruthless third and fourth quarter by Tunisia saw Madagascar playing the catch up game.
In the other group A tie, DRC won it’s debut Afrobasket 2021 Qualifiers game against Central African Republic 55-51.
It was quiet a cagey game that saw a point lead in the quarter, but a diligent display increased the margin to 8 in the first half to end 33-25.
In group E, it was Cape Verde 80-73 Morocco while Egypt defeated Uganda 97-77.
