After an extremely tight game of Mali and Rwanda going back and forth, Mali comes out the victor with a 6 point victory over Rwanda.
Though it was pretty much Mali in front for most of the time in the game, but it was more or less a close call.
The first quarter ended with a seven point lead, Rwanda made sure to cut the lead to two points in the first half to the score at 38-36.
Mali held on and improved on it performance to win 70-64 points in it first game of the qualifiers.
Earlier in the day, D’Tigers of Nigeria defeated South Sudan 76-56 to start on a good note in the first match of day 2.
Nigeria kept to their domineering advantage of the game from the beginning to win with a 20 point margin.
Angola also cruised to victory in game 4 of the FIBA Afrobasket 2021 Qualifiers granting them their second win in the tournament.
A good Kenyan performance couldn’t keep up as the Angolans dominated the game from start to finish.
Kenya will need to win their match against Mozambique on Friday to keep hope alive for qualification.
It was another interesting match between Mozambique and Senegal in the second group match in group B.
After the loss to Angola, Mozambique showed they were not going to be pushovers against former champions, Senegal.
It was dominance for Senegal from the first quarter with a nine points lead and a twelve points lead by half time.
By the third quarter, Senegal were coasting home for their second win of the tournament with a 32-49 lead.
However, the final lap was not smooth as the Mozambicans made it a nervy end for Senegal with a resilient performance.
