Mali edged Senegal 82-80 to win the 2020 edition of the U18 Afrobasket Championship holding in Egypt.
Mali who had beating Egypt in the semi finals to get the final fought hard to dispatch a strong Senegal side.
It was Senegal who started strongly leading as early as possible 13-4 to end the first quarter of the match 23-16.
By the second quarter, Senegal still remained victorious despite Mali’s great display at some point of the quarter.
However, a resounding come back was achieved by Mali as it led by 67 points to 56 points.
The come back energy continued as Mali saw off the game with two points margin to retain the title.
The two teams qualify for next year’s U19 World Cup.
