Egypt defeated Senegal in it second game of the FIBA U18 Afrobasket Championship holding in Cairo Stadium in Egypt.
After losing to Mali on Thursday, Egypt came good to conquer Senegal by 54 to 48 points.
Senegal led in the first quarter of the tie, winning 15-8, but the Egyptians closed the margin in the second quarter to make it 28-22 after winning 14-13. Victorine Thiaw of Senegal proved vital with 6 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists.
Egypt continued it great comeback to take the third quarter 13-7 to and leave the score at 35 apiece.
As the game went on, it was obvious that the Senegalese couldn’t stand the hit from the Egyptians. The host took the fourth quarter again 19-13 to end the match at 54-48.
Egypt’s Yara Osama Zarea scored 17 points 17 rebounds and 1 assist.
Egypt plays defending champion, Mali tomorrow in it next game while Senegal will seek to bounce back to winning ways Mali on Monday after resting tomorrow.
