Rwanda’s top female referee, Salma Mukasanga has been appointed to take charge at the 2019 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt this month.
The 28-year-old referee will be assisted by Diana Chikotesha of Zambia and Morocco’s Fathia Jermoumi.
It is the second time CAF referee Committee has included a female match official to a men’s tournament. The move seeks to include more female officials into CAF competitions.
Salma Mukasanga was among the list of 75 women who officiated the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France last June.
The African female referee trio are among a 25-man list of match Officials of 12 referees and 13 assistant referees.
The U-23 Africa Cup of Nations will run from Nov 8-22,2019.
