Cameroon’s forward and Bayern Munich marks-man Eric Maxime Choupo Moting has rump ties with head coach Antonio Conceicao after feeling being ridiculed and disrespected by the Portuguese tactician.
Initially selected among the eleven-man team to face the Stallions of Burkina Faso for a third place game, after failing to book a semi-finals ticket against Egypt.
It was in despair and frustration that the former Paris Saint Germain poacher , had to withdraw himself from Antonio’s team following the shameful treatment administered on him by Conceicao recently.
Reacting to his non-participation in the two last games with Cameroon, Eric had these firing and embarrassing declarations in a facial expression full of anger and regret.
“I am very happy for the victory, it was a difficult game for us and we needed a win at all cost in order to make our supporters happy”.
” I am glad that the entire public were behind us, pushing us to victory. For it was the most important.”
“I think the difference between the Burkina Faso side and us was at the level of the mindset. The start was very challenging but we succeeded in giving the best of ours for a win”
“I believe the determination and the zeal to give the best of ours on the pitch was our driving force to victory”.
“Despite being listed in the 11 man squad to face Burkina Faso, l had interacted with the coach, to let him know l was not fit for the game psychologically due to the shocking events that occurred during our last game against Egypt for the semi-finals”.
” It is with despair and anger, that l wish to express my disappointment towards the coach , for side-linning me in a crucial game like that of Egypt. ”
“I came to the Nation’s Cup with the intention of uplifting the trophy for my nation Cameroon”.I deserve to be respected. The coach has proven not to count on me a hundred percent. A remark noticed during the quarter-finals and semi-finals. For me it’s an insult towards my personality”.
“Not being able to play at least for 120 minutes, at the semi-finals, l had to tell the truth to the coach, by inviting him to inject new players who were capable of changing the game’s tempo. With the hope of making my entry on the pitch , a proposal that was merely a fiasco”.
” I love to defend my country’s colours. But l have made up my mind and it’s final never to play under Conceicao. I do respect and appreciate the coaches choice of players. I feel sad and disappointed for not being able to play for Cameroon. ”
