Ahead of the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) Draws slated to take place on April 12, 2019, Super Eagles of Nigeria have been placed in Pot 2 for the draws. Nigeria that qualified with a match to spare after 1-1 draw Vs South Africa on Game Day 5 will be in Pot 2 alongside Morocco, Democratic Republic of Congo, Algeria, Mali and Guninea.
Egypt, Ghana, Tunisia, Ivory Coast, Cameroon and Tunisia make up Pot 2.
In Pot 3, we have countries like Uganda, South Africa, Guinea Bisau, Zimbabwe, Angola and Burundi.
While Pot 4 comprise of Mauritania, Namibia, Benin Republic, Kenya, Madagascar and Tanzania.
The pots serve as ranking criteria for easy draws. Ranking criteria include AFCON results in 2017-2015-2013. It also comprise of AFCON qualifiers results in 2019-2017-2015 as well as World cup 2018 final tournament results. The final criteria used in determining the pots was World cup 2018 qualifiers results.
