Comoros has on Thursday March 25 made history by qualifying for the African Nations Cup fur the first time after their 0-0 draw at he to Togo.
This celebration comes as one of the country’s biggest achievements which has been more famous for it’s history in Political coups and entertainment than sporting success.
The shock qualification gives the island the opportunity to participate in the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon, who’s major qualifier was in 2016 were they defeated Botswana. That was their 20th attempt to win either a Nations or world Cup qualifier.
Comoros are First in group G with 9pts same as Egypt who are second with three wins and two draws from their five matches. Coach Amir Abdou, head coach of the national team since 2014 whose decision to bring in players from the diaspora to play for team eventually paid off.
Comoros are the eighth team to qualify for the African Nations Cup joining Burkina Faso, Guinea, Togo, Mali, Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria and host Cameroon.
Egypt will on Sunday host Comoros for the sixth and final qualifiers game
In the same light, Gambia has qualified for their first ever African Nations Cup tournament beating Angola by 1goal to zero at home on Thursday March 25 to join a host of other countries in qualifying for the tournament.

Half the teams at next year’s final are known with teams that have never reached the tournament before to have profited from the decision to expand the Nations Cup from 16 teams to 24 teams.
