French sports wears manufacturer Le Coq Sportif have had it’s jerseys presented their Indomitable Lions Jerseys to the media this Wednesday at the Hilton Hotel in Yaounde.
The company takes over from German enterprise Puma, and will be in charge of kitting the different National Teams of Cameroon for the next 4 years.
Created in 1882, Le Coq Sportif was in charge of the Cameroon National selection in some parts of “the Milla Generation”. especially the team that attended the 1982 World Cup in Mexico and exited the tournament without suffering a defeat.
The company comes back to the Lions den for the first time since 1986 when the lastly kitted the Lions team that went to Egypt as African Champions and only lost to the host Egypt in the final on post match shoot out.
“They have been here and we went to Egypt as defending Champions and came back as vice champions,what a coincidence! We only lost to host Egypt on penalty shootout,it’s a great coincidence and we have a huge success story with Le Coq Sportif, not forgetting the 1982 World Cup where we were unbeaten” FECAFOOT’s president Prince Seidou Mbombo Njoya added.
The Lions Jersey presented to the media and some fans of the team is specially designed for the Men’s National team of Cameroon and will be used by the team in the upcoming AFCON in Egypt.
Speaking during the presentation Le Coq Sportif’s representative Meddie narrated the long success story of the over 100 years old brand.
Cameroonians of all works of life will have access to the original jerseys at Citysports shops around the country especially in Douala and Yaounde.
