The African Football Confederation on Monday via her official website has made public the official dates for the TotalErnegies African Cup of Nations, Ivory Coast, and FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 African Qualifiers.
The draws of the 2023 African Cup of Nations preliminary round will be conducted on Friday 21 at 4 pm in Douala.
For CAF, the Ivory Coast 2023, African Cup of Nations preliminaries round will see the 12 ranked teams, divided into two levels. The 6 highest ranked teams will play against the six least ranked teams and the first leg will be played at the home of the lower-ranked teams.
Also, the six aggregate winners shall join the 42 highest ranked teams into the Group stage of the qualifiers.
Level 1: Lesotho, Eswatini, Botswana, Gambia, Sudan, Mauritius
Level 2: Chad, Sao Tome Principe, Djibouti, Somalia, Seychelles, Eritrea
The 10 qualified teams will be divided into two levels based on the official FIFA ranking, published in November 2021.
The five highest-ranked teams will play against the five least ranked teams. Both draws will be live on the CAF online platform.
According to the ranking published on 19 November 2021, after the last round, the distribution of teams on the two pots shall be as follows:
Level 1: Senegal, Morrocco, Tunisia, Algeria, and Nigeria
Level 2: Egypt, Cameron, Ghana, Mali, and DR Congo
