The Secretary General of the Algerian football federation Mohammed Saad has come out clear to debunk and refute all claims of Algeria wishing to replace Cameroon, yet another time, as hosts for the upcoming AFCON extravaganza in 2021.
The Algerian SG in an attempt to calm down the rumor spreading like wild fire in the country of M’bida ‘Arantes’ Abega has vindicated the minister of sport’s outing, saying the minister was misunderstood.
In an audio released by the SG he states boldly that the holders of the AFCON 2019 trophy would do all to support Cameroon till the very end
“first-of-all, let me say that I was surprised to learn the declarations of the Algerian sports minister has risen up debates in Cameroon, about the organisation of the AFCON 2021″.
” I can assure you all that the words of the minister was misunderstood, because the question was; if Algeria had the capacity to host an AFCON. For our minister and all Algerians the answer is yes but that should not be in place of Cameroon. Algeria is just from being crowned champions of Africa, and we would want to play the next edition in Cameroon”.
“Cameroon is a close collaborator and a country that has brought us memorable things – moreso, Algeria would once more like to win the AFCON in Cameroon. There is no particular reason to create a polemic, we encourage Cameroon, we support them till the end for the organisation of the AFCON 2021. We hope we also organise our own edition in the future”.
Mister Mohammed Saad ends his audio with “I hope my declarations would stop the debate and calm down the tension “. Football lovers in the country are anything but calm, given the disastrous run of events that occurred in 2018 – when the President of the African confederation of football (CAF) came, and assured the nation of the hosting rights and later overturned the decision in November 2018 or ‘pushed forth’ as stakeholders fondly claimed.
