Compelling in their national colours, the 1500 Egyptian supporters, occupying the left hand side of the Mfandena stadium marked by sound and colour have expressed their glee and excitement following the Pharaoh’s 2-1 comeback win against the Atlas Lions of Morocco.
The die-heart Egyptian supporter, Moustapha overwhelmingly appreciated his team in a soft and emotive manner.
“It was one of the best games so far played by Mohamed Salah and mates in this 33rd edition of the Nations Cup. We were highly impressed by the beautiful play style from the Egyptian team.”
“I want to express my gratitude to our Moroccan brothers. They were a nice team with a better game style. I wish them all the best for the next competition.”
“We are very happy grabbing a semi-finals ticket. We know it’s going to be a very difficult game, playing against the Indomitable lions of Cameroon accompanied by their more than 27 million supporters.”
“We belief in the Pharaohs and know, they will enflame our hearts again with much fun and excitement in the days ahead.”
The Atlas lions had a great start of the game, by netting via a penalty at the 7th minutes of play after Hakimi was brought down in goalkeeper Mohamed Abou’s 18th metres box.
Egypt’s skipper Mohamed Salah equalised at the 53rd minutes to bring both sides on a parity score and forced the game to extra time.
Mohamed Trezeguet then scored the winner 10th minutes of extra time, with an assist from Liverpool’s marks-man Mohamed Salah. The crucial goal was the crucifying touch that saw the boys of coach Vahid in agony as the centre referee Maguette Ndiaye blasted the end time.
