The newly elected president of the Cameroon Football Federation-FECAFOOT, Samuel Eto’o Fils has become the new Vice President of the Local Organizing Committee of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
The former Indomitable Lions forward and skipper is taking over a post formerly held by former FECAFOOT boss, Seidou Mbombo Njoya who had held the post since his election as the FA president in 2018 and integration as part of the LOC team.

This is in accordance with the rules of the Confederation of African Football, CAF which automatically makes the FA presidents of countries hosting its competitions vice presidents of the LOC.
The FA presidents are only answerable to their country’s ministry of sports or other superior bodies in charge of sports management in the countries.

Per that guiding principle, Samuel Eto’o automatically sealed the prestigious position of the Vice President of the LOC of the 2021 AFCON after becoming the president of FECAFOOT following elections held at the organ late last week where the four time African player of the Year defeated interim Seidou Mbombo Njoya to the top job.
The ex-FC Barcelona and Inter Milan star had a meeting with Cameroon’s Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Professor Narcisse Mouelle Kombi early this week in what served as the start of what is expected to be a long-lasting collaboration between the two structures especially ahead of the 2021 football festival which will is the bodies’ main point of focus at the moment.
