Security personnel in Sierra Leone spent the night of Thursday January 20, breaking Friday, in protecting the residence of one of the country’s national team squad members in the 2021 Arica Cup of Nations, Kei Ansu Kamara, from angry football fans in the West African nation.
According to multiple media reports from Sierra Leone and Ghanaian broadcaster, GTV Sports, dozens of fans in Freetown turned out in front of the Leone Stars forward’s residence threatening to burn down the structure following the player’s key penalty miss in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Cameroon.
Kei Ansu Kamara missed a crucial penalty in Sierra Leone’s final Group E fixture, failing to net a second half penalty that could have been the equalizer in Sierra Leone’s 1 nil lost to Equatorial Guinea at the Limbe Omnisport Stadium on Thursday January 20.
Failure by the forward to send in the much needed win to cancel Pablo’s first half goal for the Nzalang Nationals, saw Sierra Leone exiting the 2021 AFCON campaign with two points after three games.
