Liverpool forward Sadio Mane and Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy are amongst 27 players selected by Senegal coach Aliou Cissé for the upcoming 33rd edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON.
The Lions of Teranga are one of the favourites to win the trophy after finishing runner-up twice. The team was beaten in the final in 2002 and again in 2019 and will be deperate to pick their first AFCON title, with many of the players regarded as the “golden generation” of the Senegalese team.
The 27 players that have been called up are expected to be grouping from December 27, before making the journey to Cameroon. The team will be captained by Kalidou Koulibaly.
