The qualifier for the Total Africa Cup of Nations has reached its final climax. 17 countries have already booked their ticket for the Cameroon expedition with 7 spots expected to be gotten in the final round of matches.
The qualifiers have produced excellent results, come from behind victories and surprising results to say but these. In all of that, some countries have yet to test defeat in the ongoing qualifiers.
Out of the 17 countries that have picked up their tickets already, 9 of them have been unbeaten. Their unbeaten records will be put to the test this last playing day and just a handful is expected to maintain that winning record into the finals.
Guinea; Burkina Faso; Morocco; Egypt; Comoros; Algeria; Senegal; Tunisia and Nigeria are the only countries in the competition who have qualified already without being defeated.
Guinea is placed second in Group A with 11 points and they play their last group game against Namibia. Should the team succeed in defeating Namibia with a plus 3 goal margin, they will not only finish with an unbeaten record but also finish top of their group with a better goal difference to leaders Mali who have 13 points.
Burkina Faso leads Group B with 9 points. The team has played five games picking up two wins and three draws.
Qualified as leader of Group E is Morocco. The former champion has played five games with three victories and two draws. The team has scored goals for fun, scoring nine goals and conceding just one.
Both Egypt and Comoros, who will be participating in the AFCON for the first time, have both gone unbeaten thus far. Both Egypt and Comoros have won 2 and draw three of their respective games and just goal difference separate the two teams. Both too have nine points in Group G.
Defending champions Algeria is the only team unbeaten in Group H thus far. The team has qualified for the Cameroon expedition with Zimbabwe. Algeria has played five games picking up three victories and two draws. Like Morocco, Algeria has been scoring goals for fun. The country has scored the highest number of goals (14) of all the countries participating in the qualifiers.
