Guinea based shot stopper Haschou Kerrido has become the first player to arrive Cameroon for this week’s AFCON 2021 qualifiers against Cape Verde Island.

The CIK Kasmar goalkeeper has come to the Lions Den for the first time in his career and will be a part of the Cameroon squad that will face Cape Verde in Yaounde on Thursday 14 November before moving to Kigali to confront Rwanda three days after.

Kerrido was in the stands of the Ngoa Ekelle Stadium on Sunday to watch his former club Dragon of Yaounde play against Canon of the same city.

Cameroon’s camp opens on Monday November 11th.

Captain Eric Choupo Moting of PSG and Jean Charles Castelleto of Stade Brestois are expected in Cameroon on Sunday evening.

The other players will continue arriving camp from Monday.

Portuguese coach António Conceição da Silva Oliveira has named a 23-man squad for the qualifiers games with five players waiting in the wings to step in should there be any injury worries.

Cameroon will host the 2021 AFCON tournament but are involved in the qualifiers with results of their games not determining their qualification for the tournament.
