John Kaputa has been replaced as Football Association of Malawi Technical Director as the association has announced the appointment of 56 year old Marian Mario Marinica on a three- year deal as was made public on Wednesday 30th.
The highly skilled and experienced football gaffer who holds PRO FIFA coaching License, has worked in Nigeria, South Africa, Ghana, Seychelles, Tunisia and Tanzania and will be in charge of all the technical issues at FAM.
Marinica and head coach Meck Mwase have a huge challenge to take the flames to the 33rd edition of the TotalEnergies African Cup of Nations on Cameroonian soil. As well as develop the Malawian football in the three years that he has been offered the job.
Marinica has coached at Romanian clubs notably ; Rapid Bucuresti, Gloria Buzau,Sportul Bucuresti, Arges Pitesi, Rucar Bucuresti and Cimentul Feni.
Nyamilandou Walter FAM President echoed the following;
“Mario comes into this position with lots of experience and is not new in this environment. He has worked in Africa and his profile on the continent is well documented”.
” He will assist in selecting players for the national team and training sessions but most importantly coming up with structures that will help to develop the game. As FAM, we will support him with everything and we are convinced that we have hired a very experienced person in this field “.
He has also coached Azam FC in Tanzania, Black Leopards in South Africa, Zakho FC in Iraq and Kaposvari Rakoczi in Hungary.
