25-year-old Burkina Faso international skipper Gustavo Fabrice Sangaré becomes the first player in the second 24 nation tournament AFCON 2021 to score the first goal of the African Cup of Nations 2021.
He scored the first goal during the opener of the most prestigious men’s football tournament in Africa between host nation Cameroon and his fatherland Burkina Faso, in the African Cup of Nations 2021 played at the Olembe Stadium in Yaounde Sunday 9 January 2022.
Gustavo Fabrice found the back of the net bypassing Goalkeeper Andre Onana Onana with a right foot striker from a Cross in from the right flank of the field. A goal which marked the first goal of the tournament scored within 23 minutes of the first segment.
An unfortunate fortunate goal for the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon which demoralised the hopes of fans but served as a wake up call for coach António Conceicao and boys who recuperated play and changed the slogish backward play style to a forefront battle.
At full time Cameroon indomitable lions beat the Stallions of Burkina Faso 2#1 two goals from captain Vincent Aboubakar.
Gustavo Fabrice Sangaré plays for a French League 2 club, Union Sportive Quevillaise-Rouen Métropole/US Quevilly a football club based in Le Petit-Quevilly in France.
Sangaré now counts two goals in 47 appearances for his side and his lone goal against Cameroon takes his goal tally with Burkina Faso National team to two in two appearances.
From the goal, Gustavo Fabrice Sangaré’s name will go down in history for netting the first goal of Cameroon TotalEnergies African Cup of Nations 2021 at Olembe Stadium Sunday 9 January 2022 against Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
