Senegal senior men’s team are en route to Cameroon ahead of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
The Terenga Lions left Senegal in the afternoon of Wednesday January 5, 2022 via the Blaise Diagne International Airport in Dakar and will be expected to land at the Douala International Airport in the later hours of the day.
Team Captain Kalidou Koulibaly and mates will then use a domestic flight from the Douala International Airport to travel to the team’s base in Bafoussam via the Bafoussam Airport.
The Senegalese delegation is travelling to Cameroon without three of its players and 6 staffs.
France based Strasbourg forward, Habib Diallo, AS Nancy winger, Salious Ciss and Mamadou Loum Ndiaye of Deportivo Alaves in Spain all returned positive Covid-19 test results after tests conducted on Tuesday January 4.
The three and the six members of the technical bench, have all been quarantined in the team’s base in Dakar according to a communique from the Senegalese football federation.
Senegal will compete in Group B of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
The two time runners up will face the Warriors of Zimbabwe, the Flames of Malawi and the Syli Nationals of Guinea Conakry at the Bafoussam Omnisport Stadium as Sadio Mane and mates look forward to clinching their maiden title in the prestigious Africa Cup of Nations competition.
