Following Equatorial Guinea’s one nil defeat by the Elephants of Ivory Coast Wednesday January 12, 2022 at the Japoma Sports Complex, head coach
Abeso Evuna Ada Nopo Casto Nopo says it was fair play though with some irregularities as he highlighted.
“It was a fair play game, I am a little bit shocked at the way the match ended. My team played very well, we lost some balls in the midfield which were not good for us. There was a foul which was in our favour but the referee did not intervene and VAR did not but we will not judge the actions of the referee.”
After bowing to Equatorial Guinea 1#0, they are expected to face Algeria and Sierra Leone, two tough battles for coach Casto Nopo and boys.
“All matches are not the same. It is true that we played with one of the favourite and the next match is also against a favourite. This is where we have to prove our capabilities and prove ourselves to have a better result in the match againstt Algeria.” Coach Casto Nopo revealled in post match conference.
To the head coach, this is the time to prove the capabilities of the players facing giants and to correct the mistakes of the past.
“This is where we have to prove our capabilities. We are going to correct the mistakes of today and we are going to try to improve on this.”
Equatorial Guinea is lodged in group E alongside giants and defending champions Algeria, Ivory Coast and Sierra Leone.
