Former Team Captain of Cameroon senior men’s national football team, Rigobert Song Bahanag have congratulated Cameroon Indomitable Lions skipper in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, Vincent Aboubakar for his excellent performances in the ongoing African football festival.
The double AFCON winner for Cameroon described the former FC Porto forward as an exemplary leader and a real figure worthy of recognition for his incredible Lions fighting spirit.
“I transferred him the command baton. The indomitable fighting spirit. A junior one worthy of trust.
That is what it means. I, the emblematic Captain, I say congratulations to you and good luck. You are the boss.” Rigobert Song wrote on his official social media pages in the late hours of Thursday January 13, 2022.
Vincent Aboubakar has scored four goals in two matches for Cameroon in the ongoing 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.
The 29-year-old Al Nassr forward netted twice against Burkina Faso during the opening match of the 2021 AFCON festival in Cameroon, to hand the Indomitable Lions a much needed win at the Yaounde Olembe Stadium last Sunday January 9.
Aboubakar bagged another brace for Cameroon on Thursday January 13 to help the Indomitable Lions become the first nation to qualify for the round 16 of the current tournament after Cameroon humiliated 1962 AFCON champions, Ethiopia 4-1 at the Yaounde Olembe Stadium Thursday to increase their points tally to 6 with a game to spare.
Cameroon is in search of its sixth AFCON title. The team won its fifth and last crown in Gabon in 2017 with Vincent Aboubakar scoring the winner for the Indomitable Lions against the Pharaohs of Egypt.
