Cotonsport of Garoua Shot stopper Bassa Djeri Sabirou has retained his place in Coach Claude Leroi squad of 23 players to face Benin in their round 6 AFCON qualifiers later this month.
The squad announced this Tuesday has the name of the first choice keeper for the Togolese National selection,Bassa at a time when he has started enjoying his Football in Cameroon.
Bassa is currently his best run since joining Cotonsport in December 2017.He has played 12 consecutive games for the club this season,his longest run between the sticks for Cotonsport.
Bassa is in fine form this season. The 23 year old goalkeeper has kept 3 clean sheets in 7 league matches this season and has had the faith of coach Ebwelle Ndinge Bertin ahead of the title winning goalkeeping,Simon Loti Omossola.
Fans cheered Bassa off the pitch in Yaounde despite booing the rest of his mate following their 2-3 defeat to Ghanaian side Asante Kotoko in the CAF confederation cup,simply a summary of how well he has settled in the minds of Cotonsport fans.
Benin host Djeri’s Togo in their last AFCON qualifier on the 23rd of March with the Togolese hoping on beating Benin to claim the second spot and Qualify for the 2019 AFCON in Egypt.
