Cameroon midfielder Pierre Kunde Malong has been voted the Total AFCON man of the match for the third group game pitting the Squirrels of Benin and the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon this Tuesday evening in Ismaïla.

The central defender turn midfielder was on top of his game against the Beninese side spreading over half a dozen good passes to his teammates over 90 minutes in his first start in the AFCON.

Born in Limbe in the Southwest region of Cameroon some 23 years back, Pierre Kunde Malong represented Cameroon at the U18 and U23 levels, the latter in the 2017 Islamic Solidarity games. He then made his full international debut on 27 May 2018, during Cameroon’s 0#1 loss in a friendly against Burkina Faso.

In his first AFCON start for Cameroon Pierre Kunde Malong become the 2nd Cameroonian player to be named man of the match following an Excel display in the middle of the pack.

Kunde’s team mate Andre Franck Zambo Anguissa has equally been named man of the match on two occasions in the tournament, Kunde’s award makes it 3 in 3 games all for Midfielders playing for a team mentored by a Midfield great in Clarence Clyde Seedorf.
