The Uganda side beat Dr. Congo 2-0 to win their first game since 1978 in the ongoing African Nations Cup taking place in Egypt.

The last time Uganda Cranes won a match at the AFCON was in Ghana when they beat Nigeria 2-1 in the semis of the 1978.

Goals by Kaddu and Emmanuel Okwi gave the Cranes a win to put them at top for the time being in group A of the African Nations Cup.

Uganda have now scored 21 goals in AFCON history. This is the first time that Uganda Cranes has had a 2-goal cushion at AFCON finals since beating Morocco 3-0 on March 11, 1978 at Kumasi Sports Stadium.

The Cranes play the host nation, Egypt in their next match.
