Cameroon pole guard, Andre Onana has been one of the shot toppers not to have conceded in the AFCON 2019 in 3 games already played.
The first choice goalkeeper is playing his first AFCON aged 23 but there has been no look of nerves from the second and third group stage game, after some howlers committed in the first game; luckily for him he did not concede in that game and only grew better in the tournament as it went on.
Onana has kept a clean sheet in his past four matches and the last time he conceded was in an international friendly against Brazil on the 20th of November 2018.
After the draw win Benin, the keeper said :”We are here to go as far as possible. Now we are going to try to win the AFCON – i am happy for the clean sheets especially in these 2 games. That means, we were defending very good., that means we were solid in our defending. We are working and defending together – I am happy especially with the way we are defending”.
Being the number 1 these days keeping AFCON 2017 best goal keeper, Fabrice Ondoa on the sidelines, Onana just sees the round of 16’s game as any other game- “it is 11 against 11. they have top players, we have a good team – we are going to be ready for them”.
Onana would surely be in- between the sticks against Nigeria for the first time in his career this Saturday in their round of 16’s game.
