Cameroon forward, Njie Clinton; one of the 10 survivors of the team that eased passed Ghana in 2017 has admitted that it would be more difficult this time but the Lions have the arsenal to do so. After the majestic 2-0 victory over Guinea-Bissau, the striker was asked if the Lions have been tracking next opponents (Ghana), and he said:” we saw them play yesterday. We know it is going to be a solid game, but we also have everything to give them a good run for their money. We know very well that it would not be easy but we have some work to do with the video analysis together with the technical staff. We would do everything to win the game”.
The forward remembers very well how sweet the 2017 victory was, and he does not want to care more about what the Ghanaians are plotting” I don’t know if they are coming back with a spirit of revenge, but we know it’s not going to be an easy one, we know they’re still having the 2017 game in their minds. We are here to defend our title, to give our best, not to have any regrets at the end, and that’s just what we are going to do till the end of the competition”.
When asked about the Ghana-Benin game, Njie Clinton then, recognized the strengths of Ghana and knew they were unlucky to share the spoils with Benin-“Ghana played yesterday with a player less so it is not easy to analyze their game, but, like I said we have a lot of work to do in training before the game on Saturday and_a lot of videos to watch. For the moment we are still doing our analysis”, he ended.
The Ghana-Cameroon affair has been likened to the never ending love story of twilight. These two would once more square off this time on Saturday, trying to secure a ticket to the next round of the competition these early days, to avoid any any final day ‘edge of the sit moment’.
Holders Cameroon have the upper hand in group F after starting the long trip to defending their title by securing a 2-0 victory over Guinea-Bissau, while Ghana rather had an unceremonious start, sharing the spoils a man short, against Benin.
Ghana has lost her 2 recent meetings in this encounter in aching fashion; they were ousted by the indomitable Lions in their home patch in 2008 at the level of the semi finals, and in 2017, two second half goals from Michael Ngadeu and Bassogog proved to be the undoing of the Black Stars at the semi’s and the end of an era for coach Avram Grant. Saturday has been set aside to be a day of thunder and lightening in the African continent.
