Cameroon’s international midfielder Arnaud Djoum has admitted this Wednesday morning that the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have a very solid team. The 30 years old Heart of Midlothian midfielder was reacting after the Indomitable Lions finished 2nd in Group F after a virgin all tie with The squirrels of Benin.
Arnaud Djoum said “the team is very solid, defensively we play like a block and it’s hard for other teams to go through and to score goals. That’s a very good base to go forward and we create chances as well and we now need to work hard to finalize our chances. I’m confident about the way we play”.
Asked about what the team has to improve on after creating a lot of chances against Ghana and Benin where they created many scoring opportunities but failing to score, Arnaud Djoum says, “it’s not a problem, it’s a little thing they need to improve on”. He thinks the goals can come from anywhere. The defenders, midfielders and Strikers all have to try to score goals. He admits that he is happy with the way the team is playing and it’s really difficult for other teams to play them.
He said “their first objective of going through from the group stage gas been achieved and they are now focused on the next game”. The players are happy and confident the way they play.
Arnaud Djoum represented various Belgium youth teams before making his senior debut for the Cameroon national football team in a 2#0 win over The Gambia in a nations cup qualifier in 2017. He played the whole 90 minutes as Cameroon defeated Egypt on February 5th 2017 to win the Nations Cup.
Djoum has made 2 starts in the ongoing competition despite the strong competition for places in the team.
The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon plays against the super falcons of Nigeria in the round of 16 of the Nations cup on Saturday after both teams finished second in their various groups.
Cameroon at this juncture could go on to win the AFCON even if the team doesn’t score on open play.
