Former Indomitable Lions of Cameroon defender Stephane Mbia Etoundi played a telling role in his side’s second win in Tuesday’s Asian Football Confederation Champions League win against Japanese side FC Tokyo.
The former Cameroon International lasted the duration of the encounter at the back as his side walk away with a slim one-nil win which made it two wins in three games in the competition this season.
A 72nd minute penalty from Chinese winger Yu Hanchao was enough for Super League outfit to get all points on offer on the day.
Mbia led the back line that protected the narrow advantage to the end.
He was booked in the 53rd minute of the encounter but in his 12th appearance in all competitions this season, he did enough to ensure his side wins.
Shanghai Shenhua’s victory takes them to the second spot in Group F with six points, a point behind leaders Ulsan.
They face rock-bottom and pointless Perth Glory on Friday, November 27.
