Cameroon Indomitable Lions midfielder, Frank Kom provided an assist though his team Al Rayyan got humiliated 4-2 by Iranian Pro League side Perspolis in match day 6 of the Asian Champions League competition held on Thursday April 29, 2021.
The 29-year-old former Panthere of Nde man gave the final pass at the 72 minute to ensure his Ivorian teammate, Yohan Boli reduced scores to 3-2 on the night in Iran.
But the team’s effort was insufficient as his club conceded its fourth goal shortly via Iranian forward Issa Aleksir whose 73th minute killer buried the game with 17 minutes to play on regular time.
The ex- Etoile de Sahel and Esperance of Tunis man and mate had earlier went down 3-1 following strikes from Iranian trio of Shahriyah Moghanton, Ehsan Pahlavan and Mohammed Hassan Kanaanizadegan who netted at the 27th, 33rd and 68th minutes respectively.
Thursday’s defeat ensured Al Rayyan got eliminated from the Asian Champions League race after they finished 4th in pool B of the competition. The team picked two draws and four defeats during the group phase.
The Coach Bulent Uygun tutored team will now turn its attention to the Qataris Stars League where the outfit is currently ranked third in the Qatar top tier football championship—counting 35 points gathered in 22 games.
The team will equally be concentrating on the Qatarise Emirs Cup. They clash with Al-Duhail on Thursday May 6, 2021 at the Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium in the semifinals of the Qatar royal football competition.
