Saudi giants Al Hilal ended a 19 year wait for continental glory by beating Japan’s Urawa Red Diamonds 3-0 on aggregate to lift the AFC champions league trophy for a third time.

With a 1-0 loss in the first leg game, Urawa Red Diamonds fancied themselves to turn the tie around at their Saitama Stadium.

But that was not to be as Al Hilal dominated the game from start to finish.

Al Hilal could have won the game with a wider margin, but Bafetimbi Gomis, Sebastien Giovinco and Andre Carrillo all missed clear chances.

Al Hilal however, got their breakthrough in the second half, as Urawa Red Diamonds could not contain the pressure. Former Juventus midfielder Sebastien Giovinco played a perfectly weighted pass into the box and Al- Dawsari timed his run to perfection and put the ball out of the reach of Urawa’s goalkeeper Shusaku Nishikawa, to give Al Hilal the lead.

They put the tie out of the reach of Urawa Red Diamonds with a second goal through their evergreen French forward Bafetimbi Gomis.

In a perfectly executed counter attacking move, Gomis combined to perfection with Carrillo and concluded the move with a tap in to make it 0-2 for the Saudi Club ending their 19 years wait to lift the trophy again.
