The Communication director of Aduana Stars Evans Oppong has stated strongly that they should be allowed to represent Ghana in the African competitions in case the league is abandoned due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Speaking to Yes FM in Cape Coast, Evans Oppong said they wish situation will be normal so that the league will be continued but if it should be cancelled, then they should be made to represent Ghana in Africa.

“Looking around Africa, some countries have canceled their league due to Covid-19 pandemic and their decisions are that the teams which were on the top of their leagues have automatically qualified for the CAF inter-club competitions. Kenya and Guinea have done that.
When you come to Ghana, Aduana stars was leading the table after match day 15 before the break so if the league cannot be continued, Aduana Stars has to go to Continental because we were on top of the league.
For now we are quiet because we haven’t heard anything just that there are suggestions that Kotoko and Ashanti Gold have to go but the FA has not taking any decision yet so we are waiting”

He again argued on the other hand that, in case they should use the previous winners, they still have to go because they are still the defending champions of our league

“During the era of the normalization committee,NC we were asked to play the tier 1 and tier 2 competition respectively to select winners for the inter-club competitions. The regulations used for the NC tournament was far different from the rules of the FA.
The last time we played a competitive league in Ghana was 2016-2017 season of which Aduana stars won. It was just last two months that we returned the trophy. Since we are the defending champions, if you want a club to go to Continental it has to be Aduana stars”

Ghana football association has asked CAF for two weeks to decide the fate our the domestic competitions.
