Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi’s agent has denied reports that the fullback has extended his Real Madrid contract.
The on-loan Borussia Dortmund defender’s contract with Real Madrid runs until June 2022. His agent has denied a contract extension till June 2023.
Hakimi who is on a two-year loan at Dortmund is in his second season with the Bundesliga outfit.
He has been very impressive for Lucien Favre’s team this season with three goals and 10 assists in 25 Bundesliga appearances.
The Moroccan international showed glimpses of his potentials with Real Madrid in the 2017-2018 season in his nine LaLiga appearances.
The defender has attracted a lot of attention from some of Europe’s elite clubs, with Chelsea, Juventus, PSG and Bayern Munich lining up for his services.
Reports that Real Madrid had extended his contract were on the Spanish media, but his agent Alejandro Camano has come out to debunk the reports.
“There is no basis at all [for such stories],” Alejandro Camano told Goal/SPOX.
“His contract at Real Madrid is still the same one we negotiated in 2017, which runs until 2022.
“We have to wait. After the misery [the Coronavirus pandemic] we will sit together with Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.”
Hakimi is capable of playing as right-back and left-back. Real Madrid’s first choice right-back is Spanish international Dani Carvajal. He has made 22 league appearances for for the Merengues this season.
They however lack depth in that position, which could explain why they may be considering a return for their versatile Moroccan international.
