Since gaining promotion to the Nigeria Professional Football League in 2013, Abia Warriors have been a mid-table team but all that is about to change this season.
Chairman of Abia Warriors Emeka Inyama made a huge statement few months back with the signing of coach Imama Amapakabo on the 9th of July.
He didn’t stop there, the club had made eight significant signings ahead of the new season.
Ojo Olorunleke from Sunshine Stars of Akure, Vincent Edafe and Harrison Ibukun from Dakkada FC, Godwin Obaje from the Tunisian League, Markson Ojobo from Akwa United, Nzube Anaezemba from Lobi Stars, Mustapha Jubril from Mighty Jets and Dennis Kingsley from Ighalo FC have all signed for Akwa United while the club have also released some players whose contract expired at the end of last season.
According to Emeka Inyama, the club is not going to be a mid-table team next season as they are aiming for the top price in the country or at least get a continental ticket.
Although the club is yet to resume preparation for the new season due to the ban on Contact Sports but the Media Officer Nwosu Chigozie made it clear in a chat with kick442.com that the players and coaching crew are aware of the task ahead and are determined to achieve them.
