16-year-old Abeweh Valentine Meyanui who plays for Rangers FC Bafut has promised the team to give in his best when the Northwest regional league resumes.
“Actually they will be expecting a lot from me, and I hope and promise I’ll give them my best”.
The deputy captain talked to kick442.com following the global pandemic, leading to the suspension of the Northwest regional league by Cameroon’s governing football body FECAFOOT, to curb the spread of the virus.
To satisfy his club when time comes, he has decided to do personal workouts to keep fit. Though he has a difficulty created by the lack of a trainer since he’s alone and respecting the social distance.
“Training alone is much more difficult because you don’t have a trainer and a coordinator, but when working with the team the trainer is there which makes it easier.”
When asked how he feels about the global pandemic he said.
“I feel bad about the suspension of the league. I hope the virus is contained so we can resume. I advice all players to avoid contacts and social places. For us the players, we should stay focus, keep training so we can keep fit.”
The right back who is inspired by Barcelona’s Nelson Semedo of Barcelona started his career at Yong sports academy of Bamenda. He later moved to Ebaidinho sports academy where he spent two seasons. His desire for more game time provoked his move to Rangers FC where he has been in the last two seasons.
He has not registered a goal so far but his determination and spectacular moves is what seals the defense line for the club.
Coach Ndikum will certainly have to count on full back for a solid defensive build of his team.
The club has registered four wins in five league games so far.
“Stay home, stay safe and keep the focused,” is the right back’s anthem during this turbulent times.
